MISSION OF HOPE

UNION GOSPEL MISSION of SALEM

NEW BUILDING

Mission of Hope is a new emergency shelter and recovery for the Union Gospel Mission of Salem. This much-needed facility is located at the gateway of downtown and enables UGM to provide hope for those in extreme need in the form of 200 emergency shelter beds, and accommodations for an additional 100 men in various stages of recovery and restoration. This 3-story 58,000 sf building houses the emergency shelter and recovery housing, with support facilities including meal and dining services, a large, airy dayroom, a community meeting room and chapel, health services, recovery classrooms, library, computer lab, lounge areas, and new administrative offices.

MLA worked closely with UGM to make sure the new facility provides all the resources they need to effectively serve and help this population in great need. The new building cost-effectively provides an excellent and well-designed project that reflects the intrinsic value of the clients they serve.

The project was completed on budget in the summer of 2021.
